Calder Lodge School
Description
Calder Lodge school provides children with a calm, safe, secure physical and psychological environment. Highly experienced staff ensure that pupils' negative behaviours and mindset are managed in a non-confrontational way. Personal responsibility is placed at the forefront of behavioural change supporting children’s ownership of themselves and their actions. Using strong boundaries and modelling social norms, children are given space to grow. By building confidence, self worth, resilience and aspiration we help furnish children with the skills set to engage with academic and social learning for life. The rural setting provides endless opportunities for outdoor learning experiences. Primary needs of our cohorts are SEMH, ASD, MLD and associated needs. Groups of no more than eight are managed with social cohesion at the forefront to enable calm learning environments where all children make significant progress. Providing our own transport by skilled school staff across the north west enables a door to door approach to the overall care package forging strong meaningful links with home.
At Calder Lodge, pupils thrive in the calm and nurturing environment. Pupils say that they feel valued and cared for in school. They learn to build very positive relationships because of the help that they receive from highly skilled staff. Pupils learn how to manage their own behaviour and emotions. They understand how their actions can make others feel.
